The blizzard hasn't even hit Washington, DC and already a storm is brewing--over the District's poor response yesterday to a dusting of snow.  I give Mayor Murial Bowser credit for jumping on this crisis by publicly apologizing quickly and promising to do better today.

I suspect this mayor has had media training and crisis communication training.  Of course it takes more than words to keep a problem from ballooning.  The proof will be in the plowing, salting etc. and commuters will know right away if the mayor has kept her promise.

As someone who grew up in the snowy Midwest, I know how seriously residents take snow removal.  Think back to 1979--Chicago and the blizzard that cost the mayor his job.
