No Joke

By Suzanne Spurgeon  June 15, 2009

David Letterman has finally done what he should have done a week ago.  He apologized to Sarah Palin and her daughters Willow and Bristol.  Letterman made light of the situation last week when he explained the jokes.  This time it was an on-air apology.  He also admits he confused the 14 year old and the 18 year old.  The jokes were in poor taste regardless of which daughter was the punch line. Comedians should be able to take aim at our politicians, but Letterman clearly went too far when he did so through Palin's daughters.  I think she was right to object.  But I do hope she accepts the apology and doesn't take this as an opportunity to keep herself in the media spotlight.  No doubt the execs at CBS are hoping this ends the saga that began two weeks ago.
