I like her style!

By Suzanne Spurgeon  April 2, 2009

Michelle Obama has style and I am not just talking about the way she dresses.   While the President was busy at the G-20, the First Lady was busy winning over the British.  Media on both sides of the pond gave her high marks as she made her move onto the world stage. She appeared most at ease as she spoke to a group of school girls. Girls everywhere need more role models like Michelle Obama.

When the Obamas met the Queen, another remarkable thing happened; the Queen gave her a small embrace and Mrs. Obama put her arm around the Queen.  This type of touchy-feely thing just doesn't happen.  British commentators seemed bemused, but not bothered.

We've all seen the stories of how Jackie Kennedy stole the show when she traveled abroad with President Kennedy.  Could history be repeating itself?  To be sure, the President and the other world leaders had very heady topics on their agendas and just how much they accomplished is open to debate.  But in these trying times, I found it refreshing to see some positive reporting about Michelle Obama and how she represented her country in London this week.  And sure, some focused a bit too much on her wardrobe.  Normally that kind of sexism annoys me.  But overall, the reporting had style.
